George H. Tennant founded the Tennant Company in Minnesota in 1870. Mr. Tennant�s original business was a one-man sawmill. Through the years he expanded the company, and they entered into the floor maintenance equipment industry. They purchased the patent and began to manufacture a dry cleaning floor machine used to clean the wood floors that Tennant sold. During World War II Tennant manufactured floor machines to clean defense plants. In the 1950�s they began selling internationally.
